Position available for a CNC Bore Machinist (H-Bores) in Vanderbijlpark.
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
- Minimum Grade 12 / N3,
- Technical Skills –Basic CNC experience
- Minimum of two years’ post-qualification experience.
- Proven experience working in a machining and engineering environment.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to identify potential issues and take prompt corrective action.
- High emotional intelligence, including self-awareness, interpersonal skills and empathy.
- Ability to accurately interpret and follow detailed instructions, procedures and technical documentation.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively with colleagues and supervisors.
- Willingness to work long hours and overtime when required.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality, with good work ethics and sober habits.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while maintaining high standards of quality and productivity.

Key Areas of Responsibility
- Set up and operate CNC horizontal boring machines (H-Bores) safely and efficiently.
- Read, interpret and work accurately from engineering drawings, machining instructions, and technical specifications.
- Select, install and correctly use appropriate cutting tools, boring bars, inserts and workholding equipment.
- Competently use and accurately read precision measuring and inspection equipment.
- Load, position, align and securely clamp workpieces onto the machine.
- Set and adjust machine offsets, work coordinates, tool lengths and cutting parameters as required.
- Perform a variety of machining operations, including boring, drilling, tapping, milling, facing and related processes.
- Measure and inspect components using micrometers, vernier callipers, bore gauges, dial indicators and other precision measuring equipment.
- Inspect completed components to ensure dimensional accuracy, surface finish and compliance with specified drawing tolerances.
- Identify and rectify machining issues, including tool wear, vibration, incorrect offsets, dimensional inaccuracies and poor surface finish.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date production, quality and inspection records.
- Monitor tool condition and carry out tool changes and replacement of consumables when required.
- Perform routine machine inspections, cleaning, lubrication and basic operator maintenance.
- Promptly report machine faults, tooling issues, quality concerns and other operational problems to the relevant supervisor.
- Work efficiently to achieve production targets and scheduled deadlines while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.
- AD HOC Duties assigned from time to time.
