Engineering Technician (Mechanical)
Job Description
We are looking for an Engineering Technician (Mechanical) To provide a professional, cost effective and reliable technical service by repairing and maintaining mechanical equipment and structures and to meet the needs of the Terminal and its Clients.
To collect and analyze relevant data and develop/compile technical reports and presentations.
Responsible for Opex, Capital spares, Capex/Copex projects and Maintenance contracts optimization by compiling, reviewing and updating Owner’s requirements specifications (ORS) and Contracts Scope of Works (SOW)
Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
- NTC 6 (Mechanical) and
- Red Seal Trade Test Certificate
- Valid Code 8/B vehicle drivers’ license
- 3 -5 Years’ experience as an artisan
- 2 Years’ experience/exposure post Diploma as a Technician
OR
- T3/S4 National Diploma. (Mechanical/Industrial).
- Valid Code 8/B Vehicle Drivers License
- 2-3 Years as a technician in a plant with mechanical/structural systems
Key Areas of Responsibility
Research, develop, design and implement mechanical, structural and all refurbishment projects to improve the availability and performance of existing and new equipment with the minimum interference to the normal operation of the plant.
Repair, maintain and optimize conveyors, hydraulic systems, gearboxes, fluid couplings, rotating equipment, structures, mobile fleet, water reticulation systems and other mechanical/structural equipment ensuring optimum reliability and availability of the plant.
Adhere to all legislative requirements ie OHS act, COP 29 and BCEA
