Job Description

The LEGAL ADVISOR will be responsible for reviewing, analysing, and administering contracts from pre-contract stage through to final close-out. Ensures all parties exercise due diligence and comply with contractual terms, conditions, rights, and obligations. Monitors performance to confirm that contractual deliverables and obligations are met, coordinates and manages any contractual amendments during the
contract lifecycle and oversees the close-out process once all obligations have been fulfilled by all parties.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications

REQUIRED MINIMUM EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Education:

  • LLB Degree

Additional Qualifications:

  • Well versed on all construction packages e.g. NEC (New Engineering Contract),
    Fidic (International Federation of Consulting Engineers) and exposure to bespoke
    construction contracts

Minimum Work Experience:

  • Proven experience working in construction law and the renewable energy sector
Key Areas of Responsibility

Legal Advice

  • Provide basic legal advice as required within the business, based on group legal policies and other policies and procedures as required.
  • Negotiate commercial and legal agreements with potential clients and suppliers, within the business requirements and guidelines.
  • Draft, review and negotiate potential agreements.

Compliance

  • POPIA Deputy Information Officer in terms of Protection of Personal Information Act.
  • Ensure compliance with internal and group legal and commercial procedures and policies, including documentation management.
  • Reviewing all customer and supplier agreements and identifying associated risks and negotiating the final version of the agreement.
  • Identify and minimise potential commercial risks with new or current agreements – supplier and customer.
  • Ensure client satisfaction by adhering to turnaround times and ensuring speedy delivery of legal services.
  • Co-ordinating of negotiations, meetings or teleconferences between all stakeholders during the negotiation phase of new agreements.
  • Record keeping.
  • Co-ordinating and record keeping of the process from the request to a new agreement, until finalised and signed.
  • Ensure maintenance of contractual records and documentation
