Job Description

The Machinist will be responsible for setting up, operating, and maintaining machine tools to produce precision parts and instruments. This role involves reading technical drawings, selecting the proper tools and materials, and ensuring components are manufactured to exact specifications. The machinist ensures quality, accuracy, and adherence to safety standards in all operations.

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical training or apprenticeship preferred.
  • Proven experience as a machinist (manual and/or CNC).
  • Strong knowledge of machining practices, cutting tools, and materials.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings and perform precision measurements.
  • Familiarity with G-code and CNC programming (if applicable).
  • Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic math and computer skills.
  • Ability to lift heavy materials and stand for long periods.
Key Areas of Responsibility
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC (Computer Numerical Control) machines such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders.
  • Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and CAD designs.
  • Measure and inspect finished parts using precision instruments (e.g., calipers, micrometers, gauges).
  • Adjust machine settings and tooling to maintain quality and productivity.
  • Perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot minor issues.
  • Maintain accurate production and inspection records.
  • Work closely with engineers, supervisors, and quality control personnel.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, company policies, and operational procedures.
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area.
